Heatwave and Dehydration in Ireland :

Northern Europe is experiencing a heatwave with temperatures reaching a high of 25C across Ireland.

It is important to remain hydrated in such extreme conditions -

“Your body depends on water to survive. Every cell, tissue, and organ in your body needs water to work properly. For example, your body uses water to maintain its temperature, remove waste, and lubricate your joints. Water is needed for overall good health.”

Experts say people risk potentially life-threatening dehydration unless they read the warning signs.

Problems are intensified when drinking alcohol or partaking in outdoor exercise.

 

Mild to moderate dehydration may include the following symptoms:

Increased thirst

Dry mouth

Tiredness

Decreased urine output

Low volume of urine and/or more yellowish than normal

Headache

Dry skin

Dizziness/ Lightheadedness
